Kevin Sieben is an award-winning criminal defense lawyer in Minnesota, dedicated to defending those accused of crimes throughout the state. As a third-generation attorney from Hastings, Minnesota, Kevin’s legal career is shaped by a commitment to justice and helping clients navigate the complexities of the legal system.
A graduate of St. John’s University and William Mitchell College of Law, Kevin’s early career included work in Washington, D.C., for Congressman Bill Luther and managing legislative campaigns. However, Kevin quickly found his passion in criminal defense. From securing a not-guilty verdict in a jury trial within his first six months of practice to defending clients facing serious felony charges, Kevin’s practice has consistently focused on delivering successful outcomes for his clients.
Kevin has earned numerous prestigious awards throughout his career, highlighting both his dedication to his clients and his skill in criminal defense. He has been named a Top Lawyer in Minnesota (Criminal Defense: Non White-Collar) by Minnesota Monthly, recognized on the Super Lawyer list from Thomson Reuters, and listed in Best Lawyers. These accolades are a testament to his unwavering commitment to achieving the best results for his clients.
In addition to his success in the courtroom, Kevin’s leadership in the legal community is widely respected. He served as President of the Minnesota Society for Criminal Justice in 2021/2022, an exclusive, invitation-only organization of 50 elite attorneys. In 2020, Minnesota Lawyer named him Attorney of the Year for his work in expunging criminal records for individuals impacted by the pandemic, further demonstrating his commitment to helping his clients move forward with their lives.
Kevin’s approach to criminal defense is rooted in his belief that every person deserves a strong advocate, whether they have been falsely accused or are seeking to minimize the impact of a mistake. He is known for his hands-on, client-focused approach, ensuring that each case is handled with care and precision. Kevin emphasizes communication and personal connection, taking the time to understand the unique circumstances of each client to tailor the best defense strategy. Whether it’s fighting for an acquittal at trial or negotiating the best possible outcome, Kevin’s focus remains on protecting his clients’ rights and freedoms.
Kevin Sieben comes from a distinguished family with deep roots in law, politics, and public service. His father, Bill Sieben, is a prominent personal injury attorney, and his mother, Joyce, is active in the Hastings Public Schools Foundation. Kevin’s uncles, Harry and Mike Sieben, served in the Minnesota House of Representatives, with Harry also holding the rank of Major General in the Minnesota National Guard. His cousin, Senator Katie Sieben, continues the family’s political legacy. Kevin’s grandfather, Harry Sieben, was appointed U.S. Marshal by President John F. Kennedy, and his great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather both served as mayors of Hastings. His great-uncle, James Sieben, was a decorated World War II hero and Adjutant General of the Minnesota National Guard.
Kevin Sieben is available to represent clients across Minnesota, including those in Minneapolis and surrounding areas, and offers defense in all types of criminal cases.
